Washington Vision Therapy Center – Our New Patient Center
Welcome to Washington Vision Therapy Center! We look forward to meeting your family and helping you or your child overcome vision problems. But first, we want to make sure you're ready for your first appointment. We've created this resource to introduce ourselves, point you toward some helpful online guides, and prepare you for your personalized therapy regimen.
What to Expect
Vision therapy allows us to treat developmental, chronic, and injury-related vision problems that cannot be treated with corrective lenses alone. We treat a variety of vision conditions at Washington Vision Therapy Center, and they each require a unique combination of therapeutic exercises, activities, tools, and tests.
Your First Appointment
Your first visit will consist of an initial evaluation by one of our doctors who will do a thorough exam that looks at many aspects of how your vision functions in everyday life. If vision conditions are found they will help you understand your diagnosis and the treatment that will be needed. For more information on this evaluation process and vision therapy click here. We also have our history forms that you can download here to prepare for your first visit.
Starting Vision Therapy
If you or child is diagnosed with a vision condition through the evaluation by one of our doctors, the duration and type of therapy will depend on the severity of that condition. You will be assigned an optometric vision therapist and you or your child typically will come to vision therapy once a week and be assigned home activities to be done between visits. Our vision therapy team works with each individual patient to maximize the results of their therapy regimen.
About Our Vision Therapy Team
Our vision therapy team includes optometrists who are board certified in vision therapy/neuro-visual rehabilitation and visual development as well those having specialized training in vision problems associated with traumatic brain injury and those with special needs and with developmental vision disorders.
