Vision Therapy With Your Optometrist in Yakima or Kennewick

Vision therapy is a tool that can help to correct development concerns in your vision. It is most commonly used in children, but it may help many adults to see improvement in their vision, abilities, and quality of life as well. If you have impairments to your vision, such as a lazy eye or dizziness, we may be able to help you.

We treat a number of vision-related problems in our offices. Some of the conditions we treat include the following:

Traumatic Brain Injuries: If you suffer from a traumatic brain injury, it may be possible to see some improvement through vision therapy.

Lazy Eye or Wandering Eye: Those who have a lazy eye, also known as a wandering eye, have an eye that has not developed properly, leaving it very weak. This often creates limited vision in that eye. Vision therapy may help in this instance by strengthening the weak muscle and improving vision.

School-related Difficulties: If your child is struggling in school, it may be due to vision problems. Children who are easily distracted, unable to see the front of the classroom, or constantly faced with vision limitations often get poor grades and suffer behavior concerns. Vision therapy may help to reduce symptoms and improve a student’s ability to perform well in school.

Dizziness, Nausea, and Headaches: When dizziness, nausea, and headaches are not otherwise understood, they could be related to vision concerns. When this occurs, it can be due to underlying vision concerns. Vision therapy may be able to correct these areas.

Sports Performance Coordination: In some individuals, especially children, a misalignment of the eyes can lead to poor sports performance due to a lack of coordination. Coordination issues can extend in all parts of life and may be related to vision. In some cases, vision therapy may improve the underlying cause.

If you suffer from these or other conditions, vision therapy may help. It may help with:

• Academic performance
• Hand-eye coordination
• Focus on fast-moving objects
• Blurry or double vision
• Improved reading and focus
